南アフリカのDSI（Department of Science and Innovation、科学技術イノベーション省）は、1月29日、同国と英国の科学技術協力を目的とした国際基金"International Science Partnership Fund"を設立したと発表した。
1月22日、英国エジンバラ公の南アフリカ訪問時のレセプションで、英国は今後2年間で最大10億ランドを本基金に投資すると発表した。
同基金は、英国のDSIT（Department for Science, Innovation and Technology、科学・イノベーション・技術省）が管理し、UK Research and Innovation、UK Academies、British Councilなど、英国の研究機関のコンソーシアムが実施。南アフリカも同基金へ投資するという。
