米国の調査会社Simba Informationがこのたび"Global Scientific and Technical Publishing 2013-2014"と題する有料調査報告書を発行した（和文案内はこちら）。
STM Publishing Newsの10月24日付記事"Global sales in the scientific and technical publishing market increased just 0.2 percent in 2012, says Simba report"によると、「科学技術出版の将来はダイナミックであるが、現在は、厳しい経済環境下、確立された流通経路で役目を果たす一方、新モデルと戦略の策定に日々苦闘中だ。2012年の世界での売上高は107億ドル（1兆500億円相当）で、0.2%増にとどまった」などと報告されているようだ。
